How to read the data and notes on the 2025 survey

The 2025 survey used 49,009 responses collected from May 29 to June 23, 2025. Questions, choices, and respondent groups vary by year, so treat this as a trend in reported usage rather than a strict statistical comparison. TypeScript appears from 2017 and Kotlin from 2018, when they first appeared in the main language chart.

Create animated ranking charts from CSV and Excel

A bar chart race is a chart whose rankings change over time. It turns trends in sales, population, sports records, social data, and more into an animated bar chart that is easy to understand at a glance.

Import CSV and Excel directly

In addition to CSV, this tool supports Excel XLSX and XLS files. Put a table of item names by time period in the first worksheet and create a time-based ranking chart without mapping columns.

Make videos for YouTube and social media

Choose 16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for TikTok, Reels, and Shorts, or 1:1 and 4:5 for social posts. Export your animated data chart as a high-quality MP4.

Use images and icons without signing up

Assign PNG images or logos to each item for image-based rankings and social-ready animated charts. It is free, requires no signup or installation, and works entirely in your browser.
