    Understanding BMI & Ideal Weight

When starting a diet or health regimen, "BMI" and "Ideal Weight" are the first metrics to check. This tool instantly calculates your BMI and provides three goal weights based on global standards.

    What is BMI?

BMI (Body Mass Index) is a screening tool used by the WHO (World Health Organization) and CDC to categorize weight status based on height and weight.

    【Formula】
    Imperial: Weight (lbs) / [Height (in)]² × 703
Metric: Weight (kg) / [Height (m)]²

    Three Types of "Goal Weights"

    1. Ideal Weight (BMI 22)

Statistically associated with the lowest all-cause mortality rate. This is the weight where you are least likely to develop lifestyle-related diseases such as hypertension or diabetes.

    2. Aesthetic Weight (BMI 20)

A weight often targeted by those who want to look slim and fit. It is leaner than the standard "Ideal Weight" but generally still considered healthy.

    3. Model Weight (BMI 18)

The weight often seen in fashion models. Note: BMI 18.0 is borderline underweight. Maintaining this weight requires careful nutritional planning and muscle toning.

    BMI Categories (WHO/CDC)

    • Below 18.5 (Underweight): Possible risk of nutritional deficiency.
    • 18.5 – 24.9 (Healthy Weight): The healthiest range with the lowest risk.
    • 25.0 – 29.9 (Overweight): Increased risk of lifestyle diseases.
    • 30.0 and Above (Obesity): High risk of health complications.

    FAQ

    Q. When is the best time to weigh myself?
    A. In the morning, after using the bathroom and before breakfast, to ensure consistent conditions.

    Q. Is Model Weight (BMI 18) unhealthy?
    A. It falls on the border of "Underweight". Without proper muscle mass, it can lead to fatigue. We recommend combining a balanced diet with strength training.
