How to make animated text in 3 steps

This text animation maker skips the usual setup. There are no fonts to install, no stroke widths to dial in, and no easing curves to tweak. Every preset is ready to go.

  1. Type your text

Enter the words you want on screen. The preview starts moving as you type.

  2. Pick a motion

Tap BOOM!, Freak Out, Boing, or any of the 73 presets. Each one plays a matching sound effect, and you can swap the color in one click.

  3. Download your clip

Choose a background and format, download, and drop the file into your video editor.

73 text animation presets that do the design work for you

Each preset bundles a font, fill color, double outline, 3D depth, an entrance, an on-screen motion, and an exit. Text is sized to fit the frame automatically, and long lines wrap between words. If you've seen the loud, colorful captions on Japanese variety shows, that's the look. It works just as well for reaction channels, gaming clips, vlogs, and explainers.

  • Make a point land: BOOM!, SLAM, Focus Lines, On Fire
  • Shock and panic: Freak Out, Shivers, Wait, What?!, Zap!
  • Cute and playful: Boing, Sparkle, Floaty, Heartbeat
  • Punchlines and reactions: Comeback, Wobble, Womp Womp, Strikethrough Fix
  • Captions for explainers and vlogs: Fade, Slide, Zoom In, Typewriter, Wipe, Hard Cut
  • Follow the voiceover: Word by Word, One at a Time, Word Highlight, Karaoke
  • Titles and name tags: Lower Third, Cinematic Tracking, Decode, Outline to Fill, Neon
  • Numbers and reveals: Count Up, Countdown, Slot Machine Numbers, Censored Reveal
  • One simple motion: Bounce, Wave, Shake, Sway, Blink, Stretch, Swell, Motion Trail, Glitch

Every letter is animated on its own. That's how Scatter In can fly letters in from different directions, and how Word by Word can pop each word in to the rhythm of your voice.

Shaking text, typewriter text, and bouncing text

  • Shaking text effect: Freak Out fits panic and "oh no" moments, while Shivers reads as nervous or scared. For a plain shake with nothing else, use Side Shake or Up-Down Shake.
  • Typewriter text effect: Typewriter reveals your text one character at a time. It's a natural fit for narration, explanations, and inner thoughts.
  • Bouncing text effect: Boing and Bounce make your text spring into place. Use them for cute moments or upbeat emphasis.

Animated text with sound effects built in

Every motion comes with its own sound. BOOM! lands with a low thud at the moment of impact, Pop! plays a pop for each letter, and Sparkle rings like a chime. The sounds are synced to the animation frame by frame, so you don't have to hunt for a sound effect and line it up on your timeline.

Sound effects are saved in the video's audio track (PNG sequences include a separate WAV file). There's no background music. To go silent, tap the speaker icon on the preview or turn off Include sound effects. The sounds aren't recordings. The tool synthesizes them on the spot.

Kinetic typography without keyframes

Making text bounce or shake in After Effects, Premiere Pro, or CapCut means setting keyframe after keyframe. Here you export a finished clip and stack it on your timeline. It's a fast way to add kinetic typography to a video without building a text animation from scratch or buying a template pack.

Sized for YouTube, Shorts, TikTok, and Reels

Choose landscape for YouTube (1920×1080), vertical for YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Instagram Reels (1080×1920), or square (1080×1080). Tight crop trims the canvas to just the text, which gives you a small clip that's easy to position anywhere in your editor.

Export animated text with a transparent background

Set the background to Transparent to export an alpha MOV (ProRes 4444) or alpha WebM. Editors that support alpha channels will overlay it on your footage with no keying at all. MP4 can't store transparency, so MP4 exports use a green screen (or any solid color) that you remove with a chroma key. Every video format includes the sound effects.

Format Background Best for
MP4 Green, blue, black, white, or custom CapCut, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, iMovie, and more. Remove the background with a chroma key.
Alpha MOV
ProRes 4444
Transparent Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro. Overlays as is, with no keying.
Alpha WebM Transparent OBS, web pages, and editors that support WebM alpha. Small file size.
PNG sequence Transparent After Effects, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and any app that imports image sequences.

How to remove the green screen

  • CapCut: Add the clip as an overlay, then go to Remove BG → Chroma key and pick the green.
  • Premiere Pro: Apply the Ultra Key effect and set the key color to green.
  • DaVinci Resolve: Apply the 3D Keyer effect and drag the eyedropper across the green.
  • Final Cut Pro and iMovie: Use the Keyer effect (in iMovie, Green/Blue Screen).

Using green or lime text? Switch to a blue screen. Designs with soft glows and shadows, like Neon and Floaty, look cleanest when exported with a transparent background.

Frequently asked questions

Is this animated text maker really free?

Yes. It's free to use, with no account, no app to install, and no export limits.

Is there a watermark on the exported video?

No. Your exports contain only your text, its animation, and the optional sound effects.

Can I use the animations in monetized or client videos?

Yes. You can use them in monetized YouTube videos, sponsored content, and client work, with no credit required. The one thing you can't do is redistribute or sell the animations or sound effects as stock assets, such as in a template or asset pack. All fonts are licensed under the SIL Open Font License, which allows commercial use.

Can I export animated text with a transparent background?

Yes. Set the background to Transparent and choose alpha MOV (ProRes 4444), alpha WebM, or a PNG sequence. MP4 can't store transparency, so MP4 exports use a green screen or another solid color instead. The first alpha MOV export loads a conversion engine of about 19 MB, so it takes a little longer.

Can I export on a green screen?

Yes. Choose green, blue, black, white, any custom color, or a transparent background.

Does it include sound effects?

Yes. Each preset has sound effects timed to its motion, and they're saved as the audio track of your MP4, MOV, or WebM. PNG sequences come with a separate WAV file. There's no background music. To export silent, turn off Include sound effects.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. You can type, pick a preset, preview, and export right in your phone's browser. Save the MP4, then use the chroma key in an app like CapCut to remove the green.

Is my text uploaded to a server?

No. Rendering and video export happen entirely in your browser on your device. The site does use standard usage analytics, and fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which requests the font files that contain the characters you use.

Can I change how long the animation lasts?

Yes. Open Fine-tune and set Length anywhere from 1.5 to 10 seconds. If the clip is shorter than your line of dialogue, increase the length, or turn off both the exit animation and the fade-out and extend the last frame in your editor.

Can I highlight just one word?

Yes. Select the word and click Emphasize, or wrap it in [ ]. For example, typing This changes [everything] gives only "everything" a different color and size.

What if the MP4 export doesn't work?

MP4 export uses your browser's built-in video encoder (WebCodecs), which older browsers don't have. Try the latest Chrome, Edge, or Safari. PNG sequences and alpha MOV still work in browsers without it.

Which fonts and languages are supported?

There are 10 bold display fonts, from heavy sans-serif to brush, pixel, and serif styles. They all cover English letters, numbers, and common symbols, and they support Japanese text too.
